Leh

Overview

Since 1975, Leh tourism has grown, evolved, and thrived. The year is significant because it was the first time Ladakh welcomed tourists from worldwide. Today, the land of craggy mountains, monasteries, and barren fields is a gorgeous place to visit globally, which has benefited Leh tourism. This region in Jammu and Kashmir is on almost every traveller’s bucket list, and it has gradually become a favourite for bikers, adventurers, and nature lovers.
Travellers prepare Ladakh itineraries months in advance, researching Leh Ladakh travel guides, learning trekking routes, and arranging their transport. A trip to Leh has a large area to cover and numerous monasteries to esteem.
Leh is the former capital of the Union Territory of Ladakh and the area’s major entry point. It is also one of the world’s highest permanently inhabited towns. Leh’s dry, barren landscape is sprinkled with historic Buddhist monasteries and is bounded by two of the world’s largest mountain ranges and surrounded by alpine desert, making it an astonishing sight to behold.
It is located at 3,505 meters (11,500 feet) above sea level. Leh was primarily used as a trading post along the Indus Valley, connecting Tibet to the east and Kashmir to the west. In the early 17th century, it became Ladakh’s capital during the region’s golden age of trade.
