Experience the frozen beauty of Spiti Valley on an 8-day 4×4 winter expedition. Learn winter driving, snow-chain application and vehicle recovery while exploring snow-covered trails with an experienced expedition team.

Itinerary Details

Day 01 Solan

Everyone reaches Solan by afternoon. Check-in and rest for a while, followed by evening tea & snacks, introductions, expedition briefing, vehicle checks, and convoy guidelines.

Day 02 Solan → Rampur

Early morning departure towards Rampur. Breakfast stop around Kufri, followed by the drive through Narkanda and onward to Rampur. Reach by evening, check-in and rest.

Day 03 Rampur → Tabo

Start early as this is a long driving day. Drive through Kinnaur towards Nako, with breakfast and lunch stops on the way. Continue into Spiti and reach Tabo by evening.

Day 04 Tabo → Kaza

After breakfast, explore Tabo and then start towards Kaza. Visit places on the route depending on road and weather conditions. Reach Kaza, check-in and settle in for the next few days.

Day 05 Kaza | Winter Drive & Training

After breakfast, head out for a weather-dependent snow drive. The day will include winter-driving techniques, snow-chain use, recovery demonstrations and practical driving sessions.

Day 06 Kaza | Spiti Exploration

Another full day of driving around Kaza. We’ll choose the route based on snowfall and road conditions, exploring accessible villages and snow trails before returning to Kaza by evening.

Day 07 Kaza → Rampur

Early departure from Kaza for the long return drive to Rampur. Breakfast and lunch stops along the route, reaching Rampur by evening for the final night and expedition wrap-up.

Day 08 Rampur – Departure

It’s time to say goodbye. Everyone will have breakfast at the hotel at their leisure before leaving for their onward journey.

EXPEDITION TERMS, PARTICIPANT AGREEMENT, AND BOOKING POLICIES

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern all bookings, reservations, and participation in guided overland expeditions, road trips, treks, and winter departures operated or managed by Travel Gypsy Private Limited (“Company”, “we”, “our”, or “us”). By paying a booking deposit, confirming an itinerary, or registering for any departure, the participant (“Client”, “Participant”, “you”, or “your”, which shall also include any co-travelers or minors registered under your booking) unconditionally enters into a legally binding agreement based on the stipulations set forth below.

1. Scope of Services & Itinerary Integration

1.1 Nature of Services: The Company curates, coordinates, and facilitates guided high-altitude driving expeditions, overland journeys, homestays, hotel accommodations, logistics, safety backup, and technical assistance (“Expedition Services”) directly and through verified local mountain logistics partners.
1.2 Primacy of Tour Dossier: Every departure is accompanied by a specific Tour Dossier/Itinerary. The operational guidelines, routing, equipment specifications, and inclusions/exclusions outlined in the confirmed Tour Dossier are incorporated herein by reference. In the event of a direct conflict between the specific Tour Dossier and these Terms, the operational details of the Tour Dossier shall prevail.

2. Inherent Mountain Risks, Assumption of Hazard & Operational Realities

2.1 Extreme Winter Terrains: The Participant recognizes that winter expeditions across high-altitude regions—including Kinnaur and Spiti Valley—carry inherent hazards far exceeding conventional leisure holidays. These hazards include, but are not limited to, sub-zero ambient temperatures (-15°C to -30°C), black ice, blizzards, avalanches, active landslides, rockfalls, severe altitude sickness (AMS, HAPE, HACE), hypothermia, frozen plumbing, sudden road closures, loss of communication, and remote medical isolation.
2.2 Independent Suppliers & Fleets: While the Company exercises professional diligence in selecting transport fleets, recovery rigs, homestays, and hotels, several ground operations rely on local transport unions and independent regional operators. Specific vehicle models mentioned (e.g., 4×4 SUVs, tempo travellers, or recovery backups) indicate vehicle class and capacity; exact vehicle assignments remain subject to mechanical serviceability and local mountain route regulations. The Company shall not be liable for the direct operational acts, breakdowns, or service deficiencies of third-party vendors.
2.3 Voluntary Assumption of Risk: The Participant explicitly, knowingly, and voluntarily assumes all physical, health, operational, and financial risks associated with the expedition. To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, you release and hold harmless Travel Gypsy Private Limited, its directors, team leads, field guides, mechanics, and affiliates from any liability, injury, illness, loss of property, distress, or fatalities arising from natural occurrences, environmental hazards, accidents, or force majeure events during the tour.
2.4 Indemnification: The Participant agrees to indemnify and defend the Company and its staff against all claims, lawsuits, costs, legal fees, or damages resulting from the Participant’s personal negligence, unruly conduct, violation of regional laws, disregard of convoy rules, or failure to secure mandatory travel documentation/permits.

3. Itinerary Adaptability, On-Trail Leadership & Participant Conduct

3.1 Dynamic Route Adjustments: Mountain roads during winter are governed by prevailing weather. The Company and its lead expedition leaders reserve absolute authority to alter, curtail, redirect, or pause the itinerary without advance notice in the interest of convoy safety, passenger well-being, or compliance with administrative directives (such as district administration travel advisories or police road closures).
3.2 Extra Expenses from Disruptions: If an ongoing expedition is delayed, stuck, rerouted, or extended due to snowfall, road blocks, mechanical failure, or personal health issues, any resulting supplemental costs—such as additional nights of accommodation, emergency vehicle hires, extra meals, or individual medical evacuations—shall be borne directly by the Participant.
3.3 Lead Marshal Authority & Convoy Discipline: To maintain safety, every participant must strictly abide by the instructions of the Expedition Marshal / Tour Leader. The Company reserves the unilateral right to terminate the participation of any individual whose behavior is reckless, abusive, disruptive to the group, culturally offensive, or hazardous to convoy movement. In such events, the expelled participant shall not be entitled to any refund or compensation, and their onward logistics remain their sole responsibility.
3.4 Personal Gear & Independent Bookings: The Participant is responsible for arriving with personal clothing and winter gear rated for extreme sub-zero conditions. Any separate, individual travel arrangements or accommodations booked independently outside the Company’s confirmed itinerary remain the sole responsibility and liability of the Participant.

4. Commercial Terms, Cancellations & Refund Framework

4.1 Payment Milestones:
- Advance Slot Confirmation: A non-refundable booking deposit of 40% of the total expedition cost is required to confirm a seat on any fixed winter departure.
- Balance Settlement: The remaining balance of 60% must be fully cleared at least 30 calendar days prior to the departure date.
- Default in Payment: Failure to settle the balance by the due date empowers the Company to release the slot to waitlisted travelers and forfeit the initial advance payment.
4.2 Client Cancellation Scale:

All cancellation requests must be transmitted in writing via email from the registered email address to info@travel-gypsy.com (or our designated operational booking email). Cancellation penalties are determined based on the date of receipt:

4.3 Partial Payment Forfeiture Calculation: Where a traveler has paid an initial deposit and subsequently cancels, the cancellation penalty is assessed against the full total tour cost, not just the partial amount paid. Any shortfall must be settled by the client, or the paid balance will be forfeited in accordance with the percentage table above.
4.4 Minimum Convoy Batch Size: Fixed winter departures are planned around a minimum viability threshold (e.g., minimum vehicle convoy count or participant threshold). If an upcoming batch does not achieve the operational minimum, the Company reserves the right to either:
- (a) Provide a full refund of all amounts paid to the Company, OR
- (b) Reschedule the participant to an alternate operational batch, OR
- (c) Operate the batch under a mutually agreed, revised custom pricing structure.
4.5 External Price Adjustments: Quotations are based on prevailing fuel tariffs, local commercial rates, and statutory taxes. In the event of extraordinary fuel price hikes, new administrative entry levies, or state border taxes implemented prior to departure, the Company reserves the right to pass on the direct net difference via an updated invoice.
4.6 Refund Settlement Turnaround: Verified and approved refund balances will be processed through banking channels within 15 to 21 working days from the formal cancellation acknowledgment.

5. Health, Safety Protocols & Participant Prerequisites

5.1 Physical Fitness Self-Declaration: The Participant certifies that they are physically sound and medically cleared to travel at altitudes exceeding 10,000 to 16,500+ feet in sub-zero climates. Individuals with active pulmonary, cardiovascular, or severe respiratory history must disclose these conditions prior to booking. The Company does not operate as a medical facility and assumes no liability for pre-existing medical episodes triggered by elevation or cold weather.
5.2 Personal Medication & First Aid: Expedition leads carry basic first-aid equipment and emergency supplemental oxygen cylinders designated strictly for high-altitude stabilization and emergency response. Participants must carry their personal supply of prescription medications and consult their physician prior to taking altitude-relief drugs (such as Acetazolamide/Diamox).
5.3 Mandatory Travel & Evacuation Insurance: Tour fees do not include medical insurance, air ambulance coverage, or baggage protection. Every participant is strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel, medical, and high-altitude evacuation insurance valid for the duration and terrain of the expedition.
5.4 Minors: All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal parent or guardian. If traveling with an authorized adult guardian, an executed Parental Consent and Indemnity Form must be filed with the Company prior to departure.
5.5 Luggage & Personal Valuables: Safeguarding personal electronics, photography equipment, luggage, and cash remains the participant’s sole responsibility throughout transit, stops, and stays. The Company disclaims liability for loss, theft, or transit damage to private baggage.

6. Media, Image Rights & Digital Communication

6.1 Expedition Media: During departures, Company team members or photographers may capture photos, video footage, and drone perspectives of the convoy and activities. The Company reserves the right to utilize such media for promotional, digital marketing, and portfolio displays without compensation. Participants wishing to opt out of marketing materials must submit an explicit written request prior to trip commencement.
6.2 Prohibited Online Misrepresentation: Participants agree not to engage in defamatory public campaigns, post unverified claims, or distribute intellectual property belonging to Travel Gypsy Pvt. Ltd. without authorization.

7. Limitation of Liability & Legal Jurisdiction

7.1 Maximum Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, the aggregate financial liability of Travel Gypsy Private Limited for any substantiated claim arising out of a booking or operational defect shall be strictly capped at the net total expedition fee paid by the Participant to the Company. In no event shall the Company be held liable for indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages (including missed flights, secondary bookings, or lost business opportunities).
7.2 Governing Law & Venue: This agreement, its interpretation, and any claim or dispute arising out of or related to our services shall be governed strictly by the laws of India. All reservations shall be deemed executed at the corporate operating base of Travel Gypsy Private Limited. Any legal proceeding or dispute resolution shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
